Krista Burton seems to have everything anyone could want; a handsome and successful husband, a career that she loves, and a beautiful home.
But when her haunting nightmares turn into unexplainable events that are causing problems in her home and work life, she has to question if the look-alike apparition in her dream is trying to warn her. She begins to wonder if those closest to her have being keeping secrets all along. Secrets that threaten to destroy her, and her family.
After coming from difficult childhoods, Maria Evans and William Carson meet at college in Rhode Island. It doesn't take long before they're head over heels in love, marry and have children.
But after a tragic accident, Maria is distraught and William is drowning his sorrows to cope. When Stanley Ahearn, a well-known Hollywood director, offers a way out, William makes a decision that will determine their fate. Did he make the right choice?
It’s been 7 years since Krista and Chad Burton went through hell and back; Krista being held hostage by the Ahearn sisters that knew about her twin sister and her mother, kidnapping her to ensure their inheritance from their millionaire Hollywood director father, Stanley. She was finally reunited with her mother after 22 years before she passed away hours later.
Now Krista and Chad are parents to their 6-year-old daughter, Mara. But Mara has kept them on their toes from the beginning, even managing to get suspended from first grade. Mara’s new ‘imaginary friend’ adds to the disruption in the household.
Mara’s ‘friend’ is blamed for her many unexplained outbursts and knowledge about events that occurred before she was born. Is it just Mara’s imagination or a disgruntled spirit left behind? A weekend on Block Island at Stanley’s mansion to commemorate a memorial leads to indescribable revelations that no one saw coming.
There’s always high hopes for a new start as a high school freshman, but living in a small town in Vermont where everyone knows you, there’s bound to be some problems.
Just ask Kass Marlow who’s having the worst experience ever. Because of her struggles with math, she’s been excluded from her long-time friends from middle school. She strikes up a new friendship with Cynthia, sharing her algebra woes that they’ve dubbed ‘goezintas’.
Kass finds solace in running, after insulting comments about her weight are made by her friends in person, and on social media. Losing weight, and making the cross-country team becomes her focus amongst the chaos in her life, until she’s forced to admit her weight-loss is out of control.
And something just isn’t right with her new friend, Cynthia. Kass ignores her instincts, until a former friend is fighting for her life. Even though her best friend, Hailey has stuck by her, she’s not sure who to trust anymore.
I grew up in rural Vermont; it’s true what they say about the Green Mountain state, there’s more cows than people! My mom says I started reading about age 4 and I never stopped. I began writing short stories beginning in 7th grade ‘just for fun.’ I was inspired by authors such as Judy Blume, V.C. Andrews, Lois Duncan, Beverly Cleary, Stephen King and Madeleine L’Engle.
They all had different styles and genres, but they had common ground when it came to bringing the characters to life. I found myself drawn especially to Lois Duncan’s genre of paranormal/mystery, as well as V.C. Andrews’ dark family secret series that I still re-read often just because I feel as though I know the characters. After moving to Rhode Island in 2007, I was inspired by the beauty of the ocean and especially Block Island which is a short ferry ride. It is a small community, yet there's a mystical feel about it, along with fantastic views of the Mohegan Bluffs that led me to write the "Other Half" series. As a nod to my love of young adult novels (specifically Judy Blume), I wrote Goezintas in Stereo that is mystery/suspense that was so much fun to write!
So here I am, 30 years later. Letting my twisted imagination run free. I don’t feel as though I chose this genre. It chose me!
